Call for Editor(s)

30.01.2024

The February Journal is looking to expand its team and is inviting applications from academic professionals who would like to contribute to its progress by devoting their time, knowledge, creativity, and experience. We look for researchers who work in or at the intersection of social sciences and/or humanities and who would like to enhance their editing skills. We especially welcome applications from early-career researchers with some editing experience and from academics working in and on regions outside of the ‘West.’

We offer an opportunity to become part of a supportive and dedicated interdisciplinary team. As a fellow editor, you will have the chance to influence the development of our exciting young publication. The work will also contribute to extending your network, as you will be in touch with multiple authors and editors as part of your role.

Because The February Journal is an independent publication that runs on a voluntary basis, the editorial positions are not paid. For this reason, we are kindly asking applicants with no institutional support to consider their capabilities carefully. We are currently in the process of seeking funding that will help to establish the journal’s work further. As a new editor, you are invited to contribute to this effort. Different from institutionally affiliated journals or journals belonging to big publishing houses, this is a chance to shape the development of an independent, academically rigorous journal that publishes critical content with a focus on less established forms of writing and thought.

The February Journal is an interdisciplinary journal that works at the  intersection of academic, artistic, and activist practices. A project of Tabor Collective, the journal  produces special issues on themes that currently include migration, displacement, statelessness, and exile in the context of war, violence, and aggression. The journal publishes empirical, theoretical, and speculative research that uses de-centering, queer, feminist, decolonial, and autotheoretical methodologies. It welcomes research in a variety of genres, celebrating innovative ways of presentation. Peer-reviewed and available in open access, The February Journal provides a sourcebook of ideas for an international audience.

In order to apply, please send your CV with academic publications as well as a cover letter with brief descriptions of your research interests and editing experience to info@thefebruaryjournal.org by May 1.
